The Turkish Cotton Question

American Soft Linen markets their towels as 100% Turkish cotton, specifically Aegean carded combed cotton. We checked the claims, and they appear legitimate. The towels are manufactured in Turkey, and the company holds a verified OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certificate (#21.HUS.80380, issued by Hohenstein). That certificate confirms the materials have been tested for over 1,000 harmful substances.

Look, Turkish cotton is not Egyptian cotton. They’re different fibers from different regions. Turkish cotton (typically Gossypium hirsutum, long-staple varieties) produces plush, absorbent towels with slightly shorter fibers than Egyptian cotton. For towels specifically, that’s not a disadvantage. You want thickness and absorbency in a towel, and Turkish cotton delivers both.

What I appreciate is that American Soft Linen doesn’t try to pass their products off as Egyptian cotton. They say Turkish cotton, and that’s what it is.
