SALBAKOS has been in the Turkish cotton business since 1993. That gives them over 30 years of production history, which is unusual for brands selling on Amazon, where most competitors launched in the last decade with minimal backstory.

The brand focuses exclusively on Turkish cotton bath products: towels, robes, and accessories. They do not spread across categories or dilute their product line with unrelated home goods. That focus shows in the level of detail they put into their core products.

Not Egyptian Cotton, and They Know It

This is an Egyptian cotton authentication site, so it is worth being direct: SALBAKOS does not sell Egyptian cotton. Their towels are 100% organic Turkish cotton, and they say so on every product listing.

We checked. There is no “Egyptian-style,” no “premium cotton from the region,” no ambiguous labeling. Turkish cotton is what they make, and Turkish cotton is what they say they make.

That honesty places them in a different category from many Amazon brands we have reviewed. Egyptian cotton fraud is common enough on Amazon that a brand accurately labeling a non-Egyptian product is, unfortunately, noteworthy.

Organic Cotton and What That Means

SALBAKOS uses organic Turkish cotton. The OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification applies to the finished towel, meaning every component including the dyes and finishing chemicals has been independently tested and verified safe.

OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and organic cotton certification are not the same thing. OEKO-TEX verifies the final product is free from harmful substances. A separate organic certification (such as GOTS) would verify the farming practices. SALBAKOS holds OEKO-TEX certification for the finished product. If pesticide-free farming verification is critical to you, check whether GOTS certification applies to the specific product you are buying.

What OEKO-TEX does guarantee is real: over 100 substance classes are tested, including formaldehyde, heavy metals, and pesticide residues in the finished fiber. For towels that sit directly against your skin, that matters.

The 700 GSM Option

SALBAKOS’s 700 GSM towels are the standout product in their lineup. At 700 GSM, these are heavier than what most five-star hotels stock. The weight translates directly to absorbency and the wrapped-in-a-cloud feel that high-GSM towels are known for.

The tradeoff is drying time. A 700 GSM towel holds more water, which means it takes longer to dry on the towel bar. In a humid bathroom without good airflow, that can mean towels that stay damp between uses. If that concerns you, either buy two sets to rotate or stick with their 600 GSM option.

Transparency and Track Record

Thirty-plus years in the Turkish cotton business gives SALBAKOS a track record that most Amazon towel brands simply cannot match. They have been producing and exporting towels since before Amazon existed as a retail platform.

The Amazon storefront reviews reflect that history. The review count and average rating are consistent with a brand that has been refining the same core product for decades, not one that relaunched under a new name after poor reviews.
