Weezie Towels Review (2026): Are the Monogrammed Towels Worth $78?

Weezie towels are worth it if you’re buying a monogrammed gift, and not worth it if you’re buying a towel to use every day. That’s the whole review in one sentence, and I’ll spend the rest of the page earning it. The towels are 650 GSM, woven in Portugal from organic long-staple cotton, and they’re genuinely nice. The embroidery, done in Weezie’s own Atlanta facility, is the best I’ve seen from a DTC brand. And at $78 for a plain Signature bath towel ($93 with initials), you’re paying for the needlework, the piping, and the box as much as the terry.

If you want personalized bath linens with real gift presentation, Weezie is the right answer. If you want the best towel your money can buy, look at Brooklinen for a heavier Turkish towel or at Kemet Cotton for named-origin Egyptian cotton at roughly half the per-towel price.

For the right use case, worth it. For everything else, look elsewhere.

What Weezie Actually Is

Weezie launched in October 2018, founded by Liz Eichholz (a former creative director at Bustle) and Lindsey Johnson (the CEO), out of a storage unit in Savannah, Georgia, with two embroidery machines and three employees. The name is a family nickname. It has since moved to Atlanta, where it runs a 40,000 square foot embroidery and fulfillment facility, employs around 55 people, and has a store in Buckhead with an embroidery bar. Inc. reported in August 2026 that revenue had grown 114% in three years to the mid-eight figures.

The important number in all that is this one: about 70% of Weezie’s orders are personalized. This is a monogram company that makes towels, and once you see it that way the pricing makes sense.

The positioning is unusual for bath linens. Most brands compete on cotton, GSM, or hospitality-grade construction. Weezie competes on embroidery, piping, and presentation. The cotton is the canvas for the customization, not the main event. That means the right way to evaluate Weezie is different from evaluating Pure Parima or Kemet Cotton. It isn’t trying to be the best bath towel. It’s trying to be the best gift towel and the best personalized towel, and it’s fair to judge it on that.

So a monogrammed Signature bath towel is $93, and a pair of monogrammed hand towels (the most common gift order) is $108 before shipping. Shipping is free over $200 (Weezie’s FAQ says $200, its shipping policy says $225; assume the higher figure to be safe).

The Price Creep: $58 to $78

If you bought Weezie a few years ago and the $78 surprised you, you’re not imagining it.

That’s a 34% increase in six years, and 15% in the last fifteen months alone. Weezie has been open about part of the reason: in April 2025 the company told Axios that its European suppliers were hit with a 20% tariff on top of the existing 9% duty, and Portuguese-made towels are exactly what that covers. The bath sheet went from $88 to $98 over the same stretch.

None of this makes the towel worse. It does change the math against a $35 Brooklinen or a $47 Kemet.

Signature vs Basic: What $28 Buys

This is the question I’d ask before anything else, because it’s the easiest way to save money on Weezie without giving up the towel.

The Signature and the Basic are the same 650 GSM Portuguese terry. The Signature has piped edges (14 colors), rounded corners, and the full range of Liberty print trims. The Basic has a plain hemmed edge, square corners, and 10 solid colors. Both take embroidery at the same $15. The difference is $28 per bath towel and $28 per bath sheet.

If the piping is the look you want, that’s the price of the look. If you mostly want the monogram, buy the Basic and put the difference toward a second towel.

The Cotton, Honestly

Weezie’s towels are 100% organic long-staple cotton, woven, cut, and sewn at a third-generation family mill in Portugal. Bath towels and bath sheets are 650 GSM; hand towels, washcloths, and makeup towels are 500 GSM.

I checked the weight claim against Weezie’s own shipping data. A Signature bath towel is listed at 726 grams for a 29 x 58 inch towel, which is about 670 GSM. The bath sheet is 1,238 grams at 39 x 70 inches, about 700 GSM. Both slightly beat the stated number, so this is an honest 650.

Where Weezie goes quiet is the cotton’s origin. “Long-staple” is a real quality marker (the fibers are longer, which spins into softer and stronger yarn), and Portugal is one of the best places in the world to have a towel woven. But Portugal doesn’t grow cotton, and Weezie doesn’t say who does. There’s also no GOTS certificate behind the “organic” label; the only certification on the towels is OEKO-TEX Standard 100, which tests the finished textile for harmful substances, not the farm.

(A correction, since I’d rather be upfront: an earlier version of this review described Weezie as Turkish cotton made in Turkey. That’s wrong for the bath line. Only Weezie’s beach towels, which are 540 GSM, are woven in Turkey.)

Out of the box, the towels feel a little stiff. The Quality Edit noted it, and so did I. After one wash they soften considerably and then keep softening, which is the behavior you want from a mid-heavy terry. Reviewers consistently describe the weight as a Goldilocks middle: noticeably more towel than Brooklinen’s Classic, noticeably less than an 800-plus GSM heavyweight.

The Personalization Quality

This is where Weezie earns its premium. Because embroidery happens in Weezie’s own Atlanta facility rather than at a partner, the quality is consistent in a way that Pottery Barn’s or Lands’ End’s add-on services aren’t.

Stitch density and precision. Dense, even stitching with sharp letterforms. Monograms look crisp, not crude, and they hold up through years of washing.

Options. Multiple fonts (from traditional formal to modern block), a wide thread color range, and 14 piping colors on the Signature line. Appliqué (fabric letters stitched on) is a heavier, more decorative option at $30.

Custom Studio. Beyond standard monograms, Weezie will do family crests, logos, wedding dates, and custom illustrations. This is where B&Bs and wedding planners end up.

Speed, if you’re local. The Buckhead store’s embroidery bar turns a towel around in two to three days.

For comparison, Pottery Barn’s monogramming uses heavier thread and slightly less precise stitching. Mass retailer embroidery is a clear step down. Weezie’s work competes with bespoke embroidery shops, at a lower price.

Monogram Math

A few things that reduce the bill without reducing the gift:

• Buy pairs. Hand towels sell in pairs, and a pair with two monograms is $108 rather than two singles.
• Bundles are 15% off and the discount applies to the towels, not the embroidery. The Starter Pack (4 bath, 2 hand) at $331.50 is the cheapest way to outfit a bathroom.
• Basic plus embroidery gets you a monogrammed 650 GSM Weezie bath towel for $65.
• The birthday sale. Late September into early October, Weezie has run 25% sitewide (up to 55% on select items) for the last few years. That’s the time to buy a set.
• Buy plain, embroider locally. If you have a good embroidery shop nearby, a plain Basic at $50 plus a $10 local monogram is $65 for something close to Weezie’s own result. You lose the return option either way.

Weezie vs Brooklinen vs Kemet Cotton

These are the three I’d put side by side if you’re deciding where $50 to $95 per towel goes. One is a gift brand, one is a Turkish heavyweight, one is an Egyptian cotton brand.

The honest read: Brooklinen gives you more cotton per dollar than Weezie, and Kemet gives you a named-origin cotton at Weezie’s price or less. Weezie is the only one of the three that will put your initials on it beautifully, and if that’s the point of the purchase, the other two columns don’t matter.

Common Complaints

I read through a lot of buyer feedback for this review, and the themes are consistent enough to be useful.

Price versus cotton. The most common one, and it’s gotten louder as the price has climbed. Buyers describe a very good mid-heavy towel and struggle to see $78 in it once the novelty of the monogram wears off. Fair, and it matches my read.

Snags on arrival. Several buyers in 2025 reported pulled loops on brand-new towels (“two of six,” “four of eight” on beach towels) and slow replies from customer service. Weezie’s reviews page shows the brand replacing them, but it’s a pattern worth knowing.

First-wash lint. NBC Select’s tester found the towels “definitely linting” on first use despite Weezie’s claim that they shed up to four times less than average. It settles after a couple of washes, but wash them alone the first time.

Shrinkage and the no-return problem. The towels aren’t pre-shrunk, and Weezie says up to 5%. The brand’s single Trustpilot review is a $175 robe that shrank a full size and couldn’t be returned because it had been washed. Follow the cold-wash instruction.

Lead times only at checkout. The embroidery turnaround isn’t on the product page, so people ordering close to a wedding or holiday get a surprise at the last step. More on that below.

Piping color versus screen. “Sand” reading as cream, that kind of thing. Order a single hand towel first if the color has to match a bathroom.

Care burden. Cold wash only, wash alone, no softener, and at 29 x 58 inches only five bath towels fit in a normal load.

None of these are dealbreakers. They’re the trade-offs of buying from a personalization brand rather than a towel brand.

Ordering a Monogrammed Gift: How Long It Really Takes

Plain items ship in one to two business days. Embroidered items don’t, and Weezie only tells you the lead time at checkout.

The best guide is Weezie’s own holiday cutoffs. For Labor Day 2026, standard embroidery orders had to be placed nine days before the holiday, expedited four days before, rush two days before. Appliqué had a longer cutoff and no rush option at all.

My rule of thumb: for a wedding, shower, or holiday, order standard embroidery at least two weeks out, and appliqué at least three. If you’re inside that window, the Buckhead store’s two to three day embroidery bar is the only fast option, and it only helps if you’re in Atlanta.

Is Weezie Worth It for Gifts vs Daily Use?

This is the question I get most, so here’s how I’d split it.

For gifts: yes. A monogrammed pair of Weezie hand towels is the kind of gift that gets kept. The embroidery is crisp, the packaging is thoughtful (the box is genuinely lovely, and yes, I’ve kept one), and the recipient doesn’t see the price-per-GSM math. For weddings, housewarmings, and new babies, Weezie is the easiest good gift in the bath category.

For daily use: no, unless personalization is the point. If you’re buying six bath towels for your own bathroom and you won’t monogram them, you’re paying $78 apiece for a towel that Brooklinen beats on weight and Kemet beats on cotton, both for less money.

For a coordinated bathroom: maybe. If you want piped edges in a specific color and initials on every piece, Weezie is one of the only brands that does this well. Just go in knowing the care routine (cold, alone, low heat) and that nothing monogrammed can come back.

When Weezie Isn’t the Right Pick

You don’t want personalization. You’re paying for craftsmanship you’re not using. Buy Brooklinen, Hammam Linen, or Kemet instead.

Cotton origin matters to you. Weezie won’t tell you where its cotton is grown. Kemet names the region; Pure Parima carries the Cotton Egypt Association mark.

You want a heavyweight. Weezie’s 650 GSM is mid-heavy. For 770-plus GSM, look at Brooklinen Super-Plush or a heavyweight Egyptian cotton line.

You need it fast. Embroidery adds a week or two. Plain items are quick; monogrammed ones aren’t.

Budget shopping. Weezie is firmly DTC premium, and it’s gotten more premium every year.

Weezie Sale Pattern

• Birthday sale. Weezie’s anniversary sale runs from late September into the first days of October. In 2025 it was 25% sitewide with select items up to 55% off. Sale purchases are store credit only if returned.
• Black Friday. Sitewide discounts, usually in the same range.
• Welcome offer. A rolling $15-off code for signing up.
• Bundles. 15% off, year round.

Weezie discounts less aggressively than mass retailers because the personalization model doesn’t leave much room. The base pricing is the pricing. If you can wait for late September, do.

Care for Embroidered Weezie Towels

Weezie’s own instructions are stricter than most towel brands’, and given the no-return-after-washing rule, follow them:

Cold wash, wash alone. Especially the first few times, both for lint and for dye.

Tumble dry low. High heat is what causes the shrinkage and can distort embroidery.

No fabric softener. It coats the terry and kills absorbency, and it dulls the embroidery.

No bleach. Even on white towels with white thread.

Iron from the back if you must, low heat only.

With proper care, Weezie embroidery holds up for years. With rough care, it degrades visibly much sooner, and the towel shrinks with it.

Our Egyptian Cotton Alternative

If you got to this point and realized you don’t actually need the monogram, here’s where I’d send you instead.

Kemet Cotton makes Egyptian cotton towels from Giza cotton grown in the Nile Delta, in a 600 GSM Signature line and a 700 GSM Reserve line, both zero-twist (which is why they feel soft straight out of the box without a softener finish). A Signature set of two is $93.95, about $47 a towel, which is less than a plain Weezie Basic. The Reserve set of two is $149.95, about $75 a towel, roughly a plain Weezie Signature. They’re OEKO-TEX certified and come with a 30-day no-questions return, so the “can’t return it” problem doesn’t apply.

The caveat I always give: Kemet launched in 2025 and doesn’t yet carry the Cotton Egypt Association Pyramid Mark, so its Egyptian origin rests on the brand’s own (unusually specific) sourcing detail rather than a third-party stamp. If that stamp is what you need, Pure Parima has it.

The Bottom Line

Weezie is the right answer for personalized, monogrammed, or embroidered bath linens with strong gift presentation. The embroidery is genuinely excellent, the towels are an honest 650 GSM woven in Portugal, and the brand doesn’t claim anything it can’t back (it just doesn’t say where the cotton is from).

For gifts, registries, and coordinated bathrooms, Weezie is what to buy, ideally during the September sale and ideally the Basic if you don’t need piping. For everything else, $78 to $93 a towel buys a heavier Turkish towel from Brooklinen or a named-origin Egyptian cotton towel from Kemet, and you’ll get a better towel every morning.
