Two Companies, One Name

Before anything else: there are two businesses here, and most of the reviews you’ll find online lump them together.

Egyptian Linens (egyptianlinens.com) is an importer in Corona, California that has sold bedding online since 1998. It offers 600 to 1000 thread count sets from $75, a 60-day return window, and a BBB A+ rating. We reviewed it separately at Egyptian Linens Review, and the short verdict there is: legitimate long-running business, undisclosed sourcing, some uneven batches.

Luxury Egyptian Linens (luxuryegyptianlinens.com) is a different company in Sterling, Virginia. This page is about that one. When you search “egyptian linens reviews,” the Trustpilot page that ranks near the top belongs to the Virginia company, and the Reddit thread asking whether anyone has had problems is also about the Virginia company. Check the domain before you read the stars.

About Luxury Egyptian Linens

The company lists its address as 23600 Overland Drive, Suite 100, Sterling, VA 20166, with a separate mail drop at 21010 Southbank Street. It says it was established in 2006. The Better Business Bureau file was opened on November 6, 2016, which doesn’t contradict that; businesses often go years before anyone files anything. It is not BBB accredited.

The catalogue is broader than the name suggests: Egyptian cotton sheet sets, bamboo viscose sheets, a bamboo-cotton blend, goose down comforters with a Responsible Down Standard claim, and down-alternative comforters. The site displays an OEKO-TEX badge. There’s no Cotton Egypt Association mark, no named mill, and no country of manufacture on the product pages I read.

Marketing has run through paid press releases distributed by a newswire service and syndicated to small financial news sites between 2023 and 2024. That’s not disqualifying, but it’s worth knowing those “articles” aren’t independent coverage.

The Thread Count Claim

The headline sheet products are a “1500 thread count” queen set and a “1200 thread count stripe” set. The issue is straightforward. A loom cannot pack single-ply yarns much past 600 per inch; the shuttle won’t clear, and the yarns abrade. Counts of 1200 and 1500 are reached by twisting two or three thin yarns into one, weaving 400 to 500 of those per inch, then counting each strand separately.

So a “1500 thread count” sheet may have the same number of yarn crossings as an honest 500 count, built from thinner plies that had to be twisted together to survive weaving. The fabric is not three times denser. It is a different way of counting.

Nowhere on the product pages does the company state the ply. That omission is the tell. Brands that weave honest counts say “single-ply” because it’s a selling point. Brands that ply-count say nothing. We go through the mechanics in Is 1000 Thread Count Worth It.

The Reference Pricing Pattern

Every item I looked at is on sale, permanently, by roughly the same margin:

When nobody ever pays the list price, it isn’t a list price. It’s a reference number chosen to make $124.95 look like a bargain. Regulators in several jurisdictions have taken action against this pattern in other retail categories, and it’s common enough in bedding that I’d treat it as a yellow flag rather than a red one. The point is that the “sale” tells you nothing about value. Judge the $124.95 on its own.

For comparison, $124.95 buys you a plied, uncertified 1500-count set here, or most of the way to a verified single-ply 600 count from a mill-owned brand. That’s the actual choice.

What Reviews Actually Report

Two review platforms, two very different pictures.

The Trustpilot split is the interesting part. Seventy-four percent five-star and twenty-one percent one-star, with almost nothing in between, is the shape you get when some buyers receive what they expected and a large minority receive something quite different. Five-star reviews describe sheets that were “buttery soft right out of the package” and a representative named Mark who answered questions quickly. One-star reviews describe sheets that ripped down the middle after minimal use, fabric “like burlap,” and stained, thin, low-grade sheets.

The BBB reviews are uniformly negative and recent. The most recent three are dated March 16, March 15, and January 9, 2026. Themes: rough fabric that didn’t soften after washing, top and bottom sheets made in different countries that didn’t match, sheets that were see-through, a missing order with no tracking updates, and refunds refused because the package had been opened. The company hasn’t responded to any of them.

One clarification, because it confuses people: the BBB letter grade and the BBB customer reviews are separate things. The A+ reflects how the business handles formal complaints and whether it’s transparent about who it is. It does not rate the sheets. A company can hold an A+ and a 1.07 review average at the same time, and this one does.

The Return Experience

The homepage promises a “60 Day FREE Trial” and “complete satisfaction.” I couldn’t find written return terms on the main pages. Several BBB reviewers say they were refused a refund because the sheets had been opened, and one says the company blamed the customer for a fulfilment error.

A trial you can’t use without opening the package isn’t a trial. If you order, get the return terms in writing first, keep the packaging, and pay with a card or service that offers chargeback protection.

How It Compares

The comparison isn’t flattering, and it’s not meant to be cruel. At $124.95, the company is charging real money for a product whose central claim (the count) is arithmetic and whose secondary claim (Egyptian cotton) is unverified. Fifty-five dollars more buys a verified single-ply count from a mill. Twenty-five dollars less buys a 600 count from an importer with a written 60-day policy.

Who Should Buy

The down comforters are the strongest part of the range. They carry an RDS claim, and buyer reviews of the comforters are far more consistent than reviews of the sheets. If you’re shopping for a comforter and the price works, the risk is lower.

The bamboo viscose sheets are what they say they are: rayon from bamboo, soft and cool, sold at a fair price once you ignore the list figure.

The Egyptian cotton sheet sets are the ones I’d pass on. Not because they’re certainly bad (a quarter of reviewers loved theirs) but because the label doesn’t tell you what you’re getting, and the return experience if you’re in the unlucky minority is documented and poor.

If You Want the Real Thing

And if you simply want a 600 count for around $100 from a company with a long track record and a written return window, the California Egyptian Linens is the one people usually mean when they search this name.
