Marriott Terry Bathrobe Review (2026): Who Makes It and Where to Buy It
Quick Verdict
A heavy, 100% cotton hotel robe at the same $99 it cost in 2015. Buy it on Amazon or Shop Marriott, never from a $45 lookalike.
What's good
- 100% cotton terry velour, heavy and thick
- Price unchanged since at least 2015
- $96.95 on Amazon with Prime shipping
Watch for
- One size, and it runs large
- White only, no fabric weight published
- Fake $45 shops on hacked websites
So is the Marriott Terry Velour Robe worth $99? For most people, yes. It’s 100% cotton, it’s heavy, it has the shawl collar and pockets you remember from the room, and the price hasn’t moved since at least 2015, which is more than you can say for almost anything else in home textiles.
Here’s what knocks it down from a 4.5. It comes in one size, and that size runs large. It comes in one color, white. Marriott won’t tell you the fabric weight or where it’s made. And the robe hanging in your hotel room might not even be this robe, because individual hotels buy from different suppliers.
My advice: buy it from Shop Marriott or the Monarch/Cypress listing on Amazon, never from a site selling it for $45. And if you want more cotton for your money, keep reading to the end.

What the Marriott Terry Velour Robe Actually Is
This is the white shawl-collar robe from Marriott Hotels rooms, sold officially through Marriott Bonvoy Boutiques. Here’s everything Marriott publishes about it, plus what I could fill in from Amazon and Target.
| Spec | Marriott Terry Velour Robe |
|---|---|
| Fabric | 100% cotton terry velour |
| Collar | Shawl |
| Length | 48 inches |
| Size | One size fits most |
| Color | White only |
| Pockets | Two front patch pockets |
| Belt | Self-tie |
| Logo | None on the US version |
| Weight | Not published (Amazon ships it at 3.02 lb, box included) |
| Made in | Not published |
| Care | Machine wash, tumble dry |
| Price | $99 or 19,800 Bonvoy points |
Two gaps stand out. First, Marriott doesn’t give a fabric weight in ounces or GSM, which is the single most useful number for judging a robe. The best clue is the Amazon shipping weight of just over three pounds and the fact that buyers consistently describe it as “heavy” and “thick.” That’s a substantial robe.
Second, “terry velour” isn’t explained. In a standard terry velour robe, the outside is velour (terry loops sheared flat, which gives that smooth, slightly shiny hotel look) and the inside is regular loop terry, which is the part that actually dries you. Marriott doesn’t say which side is which, but that’s the usual construction, and it’s why a velour robe feels plusher on the outside than a plain terry one.
It is not Egyptian cotton, and to Marriott’s credit, it doesn’t pretend to be.
Where to Buy It (and What It Really Costs)
The sticker price is $99 almost everywhere. The real price depends on shipping and returns.
| Where | Price | Seller | Shipping | Returns |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon | $96.95 | Monarch/Cypress, shipped by Amazon | Prime eligible | Amazon’s process |
| Shop Marriott | $99 or 19,800 points | Marriott Bonvoy Boutiques | $12.95 ground, 3 to 5 days | 30 days, unused and unwashed, $15 fee may apply, no exchanges |
| Target (marketplace) | $129 | Marriott | Varies | 30 days, free |
| Shop Marriott Europe | €89.25 (was €119) | Marriott | EU only | EU terms |
Look at that Shop Marriott line again. With shipping, a direct order is really $111.95, and if the robe doesn’t fit you could lose another $15 on the return. On Amazon, the same robe is $96.95 with Prime shipping. Unless you’re paying in points, that makes Amazon the better deal.
Target’s $129 is the same robe from the same seller for $30 more. I can’t think of a reason to buy it there, other than a gift card.
About the points: 19,800 Bonvoy points for a $99 robe is half a cent per point. Before you redeem, compare that with what the same points would get you in hotel nights.

The $45 “Marriott Robe” Is a Hacked Website
This is the part of the search results that made me want to write this article.
Search Google for “Marriott terry bathrobe” and, alongside Amazon and Target, you’ll see pages offering the “Marriott Luxury 100% Cotton Terry Velour Bathrobe” for $45 to $58, with glowing star ratings. They sit on domains that have nothing to do with robes. When I checked in September 2026, one belonged to a construction cost-estimating firm (batiestim.com), another to a small eco guesthouse in Brittany, France (le-jardin-enchanteur.com), and a third, a Dutch rhododendron nursery (verkoyenrhododendrons.nl).
Those businesses are victims, not scammers. Their websites were hacked, and someone planted fake shop pages on them. The trick is called cloaking. The fake page is shown to Google’s crawler, so it ranks in search, while a normal browser visiting the same address gets a “page not found” error instead. The pages we examined were copied from an office-supply store template, used product photos lifted from eBay and other retailers (one used a photo of Marriott’s headquarters building), and showed star ratings that exist nowhere else. One even listed the robe in “used” condition.

The real Marriott Terry Velour Robe costs about $97 to $129. If you see it for $45, it isn't the real robe, and quite possibly isn't a real shop. Buy from shop.marriott.com, from the Amazon listing sold by Monarch/Cypress, or from Target's listing sold by Marriott.
A quieter version of the same problem: cross-border resellers sometimes list generic robes under the Marriott name. The ubuy page I traced for this search appeared to match an Amazon listing for a different brand’s robe. Check who the seller is before you pay.
Who Makes the Marriott Robe?
This is the question people actually ask, and the honest answer is “more than one company.”
The robe you buy online is most likely Monarch/Cypress. The robe in your room might not be. Here’s every label I found evidence for:
Monarch/Cypress
The seller on Amazon's Marriott Terry Velour Bathrobe listing: Monarch Towel Company of South Plainfield, New Jersey.
Monarch label
A member spotted a Monarch label in Shop Marriott's own product photo.
Boca Terry
The label on the in-room robe at a full-service Marriott near San Diego.
T-Y Group
A "Traditional Collection" robe (T-Y Group is now part of 1Concier): 100% cotton, one size, Marriott logo.
Monarch’s own site names Marriott, along with Westin, Sheraton, Ritz-Carlton, and others, as hotel customers, and I reviewed the company in detail in the Monarch Cypress robe review. The FlyerTalk thread’s conclusion holds up too: hotel owners buy robes to a Marriott standard from different suppliers, and the weight and fit vary between them.
I found no evidence tying this robe to Standard Textile, 1888 Mills, Sobel Westex, or Kassatex, all of which get guessed at online. Frette does make robes for the Marriott family, but Shop Marriott names it only on robes sold under Ritz-Carlton, W, St. Regis, and the Luxury Collection.
If you want to know exactly what’s in your room, look at the neck tag. Take a photo. Our guide to where hotels buy their towels covers the same supply chain for towels.
Is It the Same Robe as the One in Your Room?
Same design, not necessarily the same robe.
Shop Marriott sells the classic Marriott Hotels robe. It’s new, not ex-hotel stock (Shop Marriott says all products are brand new). But because individual hotels source their own robes, the one you wore last month might be a different weight, a different length, or a different maker. That’s why some people order the retail robe and find it’s heavier or lighter than they remembered.
Also, check the brand on the pocket. Marriott owns more than 30 hotel brands, and “the Marriott robe” might really have been a Westin, Sheraton, or JW Marriott robe. Each has its own design, and the table below will help you find the right one.
Terry Velour, Waffle, or Microfiber?
Marriott Hotels sells four robes, and they’re genuinely different garments.
- Terry Velour Robe ($99). Heavy, 100% cotton, the plush one-size shawl robe. Best for drying off after a shower and for cold mornings.
- Waffle Shawl Collar Robe ($99). Cotton-blend waffle outside, 100% cotton terry lining, and a Marriott logo. It’s the only one with real sizes: S/M (45 inches long) and L/XL (57 inches). No pockets, which is an odd choice.
- Waffle Kimono ($69). Cotton blend, 48 inches, light and quick-drying. Good for warm climates or spa days.
- Microfiber Robe ($99). Charcoal microfiber, 46 inches. Warm and smooth, but microfiber is polyester, and it won’t dry you the way cotton terry does.
If you’re buying one robe to use every day, the terry velour is the right one. If you’re short and the one-size robe would swamp you, the Waffle Shawl in S/M is the fix.
Every Robe Marriott Sells, by Hotel Brand
If the robe you loved was at a JW Marriott, Ritz-Carlton, Westin, or Sheraton, it’s probably in this table. These are Shop Marriott prices and fabrics as listed in September 2026.
| Hotel brand | Robe | Price | Fabric (as listed) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marriott | Terry Velour | $99 | 100% cotton, 48” |
| Marriott | Waffle Shawl Collar | $99 | Cotton-blend shell, cotton terry lining |
| Marriott | Waffle Kimono | $69 | Cotton blend, 48” |
| JW Marriott | Velour Bathrobe | $115 | 100% cotton velour, 52” |
| JW Marriott | Waffle | $125 | 100% combed cotton, 55.5” |
| JW Marriott | Microfiber Spa | $115 | Microfiber shell, terry lining |
| Ritz-Carlton | Waffle Terry | $125 | 100% cotton waffle terry velour, 54” |
| Ritz-Carlton | Diamond Waffle | $125 | Cotton-blend shell, terry velour lining |
| Ritz-Carlton | Pique Kimono | $135 | 100% cotton pique |
| Ritz-Carlton | Frette Microfiber | $175 | Microfiber shell, fleece lining |
| Westin | Classic Kimono | $99 | 100% cotton terry velour, made in Brazil |
| Westin | Waffle Weave | $79 | Cotton blend, made in Brazil |
| Westin | Spa Robe | $99 | Microfiber |
| Sheraton | Honeycomb | $79 | 100% cotton shell, terry lining, 51” |
| Sheraton | Waffle Weave | $79 | Cotton blend |
| W Hotels | Diamond Shawl | $125 | 100% cotton, terry lining |
| W Hotels | Frette Spa Robe | $210 | Polyester shell, cotton terry lining |
| Le Méridien | Terry Velour | $129 | 100% cotton terry velour, 48”, logo on cuff |
| St. Regis | Frette robes | $210 to $235 | Velour, pique, or jersey |
A few things jump out. The JW Marriott Waffle and the Ritz-Carlton Waffle Terry are the most robe for the money if you want all-cotton and extra length (55.5 and 54 inches, versus 48 for the Marriott robe). The Sheraton Honeycomb at $79 is the value pick, cotton outside with a terry lining. And some of the Frette robes are mostly about the name: two of them are polyester microfiber shells, at $175 and $210.
The JW Marriott robe gets its own searches, and here’s the short answer: the JW Velour ($115, 52 inches) is the closest to the standard Marriott robe, just longer and pricier; the JW Waffle ($125) is the one I’d pick.
Can You Take the Robe Home From a Marriott?
No, and it’s one of the most common questions about Marriott robes, so let’s be clear. The robe in your room belongs to the hotel. Disposable slippers and toiletries are one thing. The robe is not a freebie.
Marriott doesn’t publish a single charge, because each hotel sets its own. One on-the-record example: the director of rooms at VEA Newport Beach, a Marriott resort, told Thrillist that a new robe costs $150 and a taken robe is billed at that price. A 2005 traveler report from a Houston Marriott put the robe at $50. Either way, it shows up on your folio.
If you love the robe, ask at the front desk. Some hotels sell them at the property, and the front desk can sometimes tell you the exact supplier. Otherwise, Shop Marriott is cheaper than a folio charge.
Sizing and Fit
One size fits most, 48 inches long. Buyers say it runs large, and that matches what I’d expect: Monarch/Cypress, the Amazon seller, treats its own one-size robes as a Large, with a waist around 60 inches.
- Tall, or buying for a man: the one-size terry velour will fit comfortably. On someone around 5’10”, a 48-inch robe lands well below the knee.
- Petite: the sleeves and length will be a lot. The Waffle Shawl in S/M (45 inches) is the Marriott option with a real small size.
- Want a longer robe: go to the JW Marriott Waffle (55.5 inches) or Ritz-Carlton Waffle Terry (54 inches).
What Buyers Complain About
On Amazon, the Terry Velour Bathrobe has 4.6 stars from about 505 ratings, with 79% five-star. Weight and thickness, the things that make a robe feel expensive, get the most praise. The complaints are consistent:
- Size. “Runs large” comes up more than anything else.
- Price. Some buyers find $97 to $99 steep for a plain white robe, even a heavy one.
And a few of my own, from reading the listings:
- One color. White shows every coffee spill and makeup smudge.
- No weight listed. You’re buying on trust and reviews.
- Strict direct returns. Shop Marriott only takes back unused, unwashed robes, may charge $15, and doesn’t do exchanges, so if the size is wrong you return it and reorder.
How to Care for It
It’s a heavy cotton robe, so treat it like a heavy bath towel.
- Wash warm, dry medium. Hot water and high heat are what shrink cotton terry.
- Skip the fabric softener. It coats the loops and makes the robe absorb less. A half cup of white vinegar in the rinse keeps it soft instead.
- Wash it alone the first time. New terry sheds a little lint.
- Dry it fully. A damp velour robe folded in a drawer is how you end up with a musty smell. Our guide on towels that smell musty covers the fix if it happens.
If You Want More Cotton for Your Money
Here’s the thing about the Marriott robe: you’re paying for a hotel’s name on a good, ordinary cotton robe. That’s fine if the nostalgia is the point. If what you actually want is the best cotton robe around $100, there are better options.
Kemet Cotton makes its Ultra Soft Bath Robe from 100% Egyptian cotton at 500 GSM, in the same zero-twist terry it uses for its towels. Zero-twist yarn fluffs up rather than packing tight, so the robe feels plush without being as heavy as a velour robe. It’s hooded in the product photos, with two pockets and a tie belt, and it comes in two real sizes (S/M and L/XL) and six colors, including navy and deep grey that won’t show every spill the way white does. Kemet’s product page lists a Cotton Egypt Association Gold Seal license (No. 1624) for the cotton. Kemet also says the cut runs slightly small, so if you liked how roomy the Marriott robe felt, order one size up.
| Marriott Terry Velour Robe | Kemet Ultra Soft Bath Robe | Monarch 16oz Terry Shawl | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fabric | 100% cotton terry velour | 100% Egyptian cotton, zero-twist terry | 100% combed cotton |
| Weight | Not published | 500 GSM | 480 GSM |
| Sizes | One size | S/M, L/XL | M, L, XL |
| Colors | White | 6 | See listing |
| Price | $99 + $12.95 shipping (or $96.95 on Amazon) | $129.95, free shipping | $109.95, free shipping |
| Returns | 30 days, unwashed, up to $15 fee | 30 days, unused, free returns | 30 days, unused, $9.99 fee |
Look, the Marriott robe is the cheaper buy, especially on Amazon. Kemet costs about $30 more and gets you a named-origin Egyptian cotton, a size that actually fits, and a color that isn’t white. For a robe you’ll wear every day for years, I think that’s money well spent.
Kemet Cotton Ultra Soft Bath Robe
The hotel-robe feel in 100% Egyptian cotton, in real sizes and six colors instead of one-size white.
- 100% Egyptian cotton, 500 GSM zero-twist terry
- Sizes S/M and L/XL, six colors
- Cotton Egypt Association Gold Seal license listed
- Free shipping, free 30-day returns on unused robes
Robe at $129.95
Check the Kemet Robe →The Bottom Line
The Marriott Terry Velour Robe is a good robe at an honest price. It’s 100% cotton, heavy, and the same $99 it was in 2015. Buy it on Amazon for $96.95 with Prime shipping, or on Shop Marriott if you want to use points. Don’t buy it from a $45 shop on a website that has nothing to do with robes.
Just know what you’re getting: one size that runs large, one color, no published weight, and a design that may or may not match the robe in the room you stayed in. If any of that is a dealbreaker, the JW Marriott Waffle is the longer all-cotton option in the Marriott family, and the Kemet Ultra Soft Bath Robe is the step up in cotton.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I buy the Marriott terry bathrobe?
The official source is Shop Marriott (shop.marriott.com, Marriott Bonvoy Boutiques), where the Terry Velour Robe is $99 or 19,800 Bonvoy points plus $12.95 shipping. It's also on Amazon at $96.95, sold by Monarch/Cypress and shipped by Amazon, and on Target's marketplace for $129, sold by Marriott. Avoid any other site selling it for $45 to $60; the ones we traced were hacked websites running fake shops.
How much is a Marriott robe?
The Marriott Hotels Terry Velour Robe is $99 on Shop Marriott, the same price it was in 2015. Other Marriott-family robes run from $69 (Marriott Waffle Kimono) and $79 (Sheraton Honeycomb, Westin Waffle) up to $125 for JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton waffle robes and $175 to $235 for the Frette robes sold under Ritz-Carlton, W, and St. Regis. Shipping is $12.95 on orders from $30 to $99.99.
Who makes the Marriott robe?
Marriott doesn't say, and there isn't one answer. The Terry Velour Robe on Amazon is sold by Monarch/Cypress (Monarch Towel Company of South Plainfield, New Jersey), and a 2014 FlyerTalk thread found a Monarch label in Shop Marriott's own product photo. Monarch lists Marriott among its hotel clients. But robes inside individual hotels vary: FlyerTalk members found Boca Terry robes at a San Diego-area Marriott and a T-Y Group robe at a Marriott in Kansas, because each property buys to Marriott's standard from its own supplier.
Can I keep the robe from my Marriott hotel room?
No. The in-room robe belongs to the hotel, and if it leaves with you, expect a charge on your folio. Marriott doesn't publish a single policy because each hotel sets its own price, but as one example the director of rooms at VEA Newport Beach, a Marriott resort, told Thrillist a taken robe is billed at its $150 retail price. If you want the robe, buy one from Shop Marriott or ask the front desk whether the property sells them.
Is the Marriott robe you buy the same as the one in the hotel?
It's the same design as the classic white Marriott Hotels robe, but not necessarily the same maker or fabric as the robe in your particular room. Individual hotels source their own robes to Marriott's specification, so weight, sizing, and label can differ. The retail version is new, not ex-hotel stock; Shop Marriott says all products are brand new.
Is the Marriott Terry Velour Robe 100% cotton?
Yes. Shop Marriott, Amazon, and Target all list it as 100% cotton. What Marriott doesn't list is the fabric weight or where it's made. It's a terry velour robe, which typically means a sheared velour outside and loop terry inside. It is not Egyptian cotton, and Marriott doesn't claim it is.
What size is the Marriott bathrobe?
One size fits most, 48 inches long, with a shawl collar, two patch pockets, and a self-tie belt. Buyers say it runs large, which suits tall people and swamps small ones. If you want real sizes, the Marriott Waffle Shawl Collar Robe comes in S/M (45 inches long) and L/XL (57 inches).
Is the Marriott robe on Amazon real?
The main listing (the Terry Velour Bathrobe at $96.95 with about 505 ratings) is sold by Monarch/Cypress, a hospitality robe supplier, and shipped by Amazon, so yes, it's a legitimate product from a real hotel supplier. The separate 'Marriott Hotels' seller account on Amazon belongs to Hotels at Home, a Marriott licensee that has historically operated Shop Marriott, but it currently lists only diffuser refills, not robes.
Which Marriott brand has the best robe?
On specs, the JW Marriott Waffle robe ($125, 100% combed cotton, 55.5 inches long) and the Ritz-Carlton Waffle Terry robe ($125, 100% cotton, 54 inches) are the best-built all-cotton robes Shop Marriott sells, and both are longer than the standard Marriott robe. The Sheraton Honeycomb at $79 (100% cotton shell, terry lining) is the value pick. The microfiber robes across the brands are polyester-based, which is warm but doesn't dry you like cotton.
